NORFOLK - James L. Johnson of 1539 W. 44th St., a retired 30-year employee of
Norfolk & Western Railway and a native of Mecklenburg County NC, died Saturday
in a hospital.
  He was a member of the Usher Board of Bank Street Baptist Church, a Mason, and
a Shriner.
  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Flora J. Hill of New York;  two sisters,
Mrs. Bertha McKee and Mrs. Verlene Massey of Concord, NC., and a brother, Sam
Johnson of Norfolk.
  A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Bank Street Baptist
Church by the Rev. J. C. Griffin.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Hale
Funeral Home in charge.
