Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, November 23, 1995 
James Hillary ``J.J.'' Johnson, 50, of the 1000 block of Johnston Road, died
Nov. 18, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mr. Johnson, a retired locomotive engineer, worked for Conrail Corporation for
six years. He was a native of Norfolk and attended Concord Baptist Church,
Perthamboy, N.J.

Survivors include one son, James L. Burch of Perthamboy; his parents, Mildred
and Samuel Johnson of Norfolk; two brothers, Samuel Johnson Jr. of Norfolk and
Solomon A. Johnson of Doswell, Va.; one grandchild, Jovontay Burch of
Perthamboy; and a host of friends and relatives.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Olive Grove Baptist Church,
Norfolk, by Dr. Harry Davis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family
will be receiving friends and relatives at the residence and will assemble there
at 11:15 a.m. Saturday for the procession to the church. The visitation will be
Friday at E.A. Hughes Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
