Johnson, 68, Ice Dealer Here 40 Years, Dies Frederick Charles Johnson, 68, Norfolk ice dealer for nearly 40 years, died in a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 12:05 a.m. Suffering from a heart condition for about four years, he retired three years ago because of ill health. A native of New York, he came to Norfolk 60 years ago. The F.C. Johnson Ice Company, which was operated by him, served the entire city, but he was particularly popular in the Willoughby area where he resided. Although his wagons covered that vicinity long before the present roads were constructed, it was said that resident of the resort could keep time by his morning and afternoon deliveries, so exact was his schedule. He was a member of the Ocean View Baptist Church. His family may be contacted at 140 Gilpin Avenue, the residence of his son, William F. Johnson. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Scott Johnson; three sons, Linwood E. Johnson, William F. Johnson, and Frederick C. Johnson, Jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah E. Mears and Mrs. Eva Preuit; a brother, Ernest L. Johnson, and five grandchildren all of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
