Johnson, 32, of Carlisle Way, left this life on Dec. 5, 2000, at home. Born in Norfolk, Barry attended Norfolk Catholic High School and graduated from Maury High School in 1985. Since then he has been a drummer in several local bands including, "Black Jesus" and "Candy Snatchers." He played in clubs across the country and released a CD with "Candy Snatchers." Barry is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Johnson of Virginia Beach; his father, Edwin S. Johnson of Norfolk; his son, Joshua Wayne Bolton of Norfolk; his younger sister, Bonny M. Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and his older sister, Elizabeth Lynne Perez, her husband, Ray A. Perez, and their sons, Joshua and Hunter, of Norfolk. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Robert "Bob" W. and Elizabeth Jane Plant of Norfolk; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, good friends, and his ever faithful dog, Lucy. Barry was blessed at birth with a joy of life and a spirit of generosity that spilled into all facets of his charming personality. His energy and enthusiasm were contagious to all who were with him. In his 32 years, Barry surpassed many of us by living his dreams. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norview Ave. and Tidewater Drive on Friday, Dec. 8th from 4 until 6 p.m. and 7:30 until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice Agency of your choice or the Norfolk S.P.C.A. would be most appreciated.
