John Victor Johnson Sr., of the 2800 block of Somme Ave., a retired letter 
carrier, died Nov. 24, 1991, in his home.

Mr. Johnson was born in Norfolk. He had retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 
32 years. He was a former employee of Signet Bank. He was a member of St. Mary's 
Catholic Church and the Postal Union. He was an Army World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. Johnson; five daughters, June J. Wright and 
Andrea V. Johnson, both of Norfolk, Maria A. Parker, Venetia T. Quiero and 
Constance M. Hughes, all of Virginia Beach; two sons, Robert L. Johnson and Harold 
L. Johnson, and two sisters, Venetia Grant and Bertha Jones, all of Norfolk; 10 
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church by 
the Rev. Walter C. Barrett. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church 
cemetery. A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday in Hale Funeral Home. 
Friends may join the family at the residence.
