When the Master called, Marion Ruth Johnson, 83, transitioned peacefully into Paradise. "Mompee", as she was affectionately called, was predeceased by her husband, Arthur T. Johnson III, and her son, Kevin "Jimmy" Johnson. She retired from Norfolk Public Schools after many years of service as a dietician. She was a devoted member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, serving for many years as member of the Eucharistic Ministry, the Bereavement Ministry, and the Justice & Peace Committee. Ruth enjoyed life. She was especially proud of her family, where she spent a lot of years entertaining and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter. Michele Logan(Sammie Logan Jr.); three sons, Arthur Graige Johnson (Angelus), Michael Johnson (Phyllis) and Dwight Johnson (Mable); brother, James Boyd Jr; a godson, Arthur Devon-Majarome; seven grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. A wake service will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday October 22 at 6 p.m.. A celebration of her life will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday October 23, at 12 noon. Father Jim Curran will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery. Final arrangements are entrusted to Riddick Funeral Service. Words of Comfort can be expressed at www.riddickfuneralservices.com.
