JOHN TAYLOR JOHNSON, in the 85th year of his age. Funeral services from the First Presbyterian Church THIS (Thursday) AFTERNOON at 3 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. ********************************************************************* The funeral of Captain John Taylor Johnson, whose death occurred at his home, Oaklette, Norfolk County, Wednesday, in the 85th year of his age, was held from the First Presbyterian Church at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon and was numerously attended. The service was conducted by Rev. Joseph Rennie, D.D., pastor of the church. The interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Following were the honorary pallbearers, George C. Reid, Norman Bell, H.C. Hoggard, Sr., Captain W.W. Old, James F. Reid, R. Worthy Smith, Samuel Smiley and Robert E. DeJarnette. The deceased was the nephew of the late Charles Reid of Norfolk and was one of the last of his immediate family except one sister, Mrs. A.T. Herbert, who survives him. He was widely known and universally esteemed in this section. He was a noted Confederate scout under Generals Fitz Lee and W.H.F. Lee, rendering very valuable services to the Confederacy.
