She was the widow of Percell L. Johnson Sr. A native of Norfolk, she retired in 1979 after 19 years as an employment security supervisor at Virginia State Employment Commission. She was a member of St. John's AME Church, Norfolk. She was past president of Bachelor Benedict Wives Club. She was also a member of The Asters, American Bridge Association and The National Letter Carriers Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Norfolk State College (University). Lola is survived by two daughters, Jessie Brown and husband Donald of Camden, Del. and Lola Buie and husband Arthur of Chula Vista, Calif.; a son, Percell L. Johnson Jr. and wife Tina of Bellevue, Wash.; six grandchildren, Lewis "Flip" Barnes of Mount Vernon, N.Y., Jan Johnson of Lynwood, Wash., Jill Williams of Hempstead, N.Y., Kimber Thomas of Panorama City, Calif., Amanda Johnson of Durham, N.C. and Vanessa Williams of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren, Alex Celcis of Hartford, Conn., Asim Barnes of Mount Vernon, Alexander Thomas of Panorama City, Devin Williams and Kendall Williams, both of Hempstead, Corey Johnson and Maaliyah Johnson, both of Durham, Emadi Williams, Elan Williams, Alasia Williams and Steven Williams Jr., all of Fort Lauderdale; a nephew, Gershom Wynn; two nieces, Kim Brown and Monique Green, all of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Wednesday at noon by the Rev. Larry S. Hinton in St. John's AME Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Graves Funeral Home is in charge. Momma Lola will be remembered for her infectious smile and the way she made everyone feel so special. The family will assemble at the Lake Wright Hotel in Norfolk the day of the service.
