Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, July 16, 1998 
Rufus Johnson of the 400 block of Beacon Hill Circle died July 12, 1998.

Born in Princess Anne County, he was a longshoreman of I.L.A. 1248 and a U.S.
Army veteran. He was a member of New St. John A.M.E. Church, Virginia Beach, and
Masonic Lodge Unity No. 93, 33 District.

Survivors include his wife, Corine P. Johnson; two adopted daughters, Renee
Copeland of California and Romona Eaton of Norfolk; an adopted son, Clifton
Gatlin of Virginia Beach; a grandchild; two special nieces, Shirley Jackson and
Florence Buist, both of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New St. John A.M.E. Church,
Virginia Beach, by the Rev. E.H. Terrell Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery
, Norfolk. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
