Mr. Johnson was a native of Norfolk. He was a former member of Christ and St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Norfolk. Mr. Johnson was a longtime resident of Hunter House. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart during World War II while serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors include a sister, Anne J. Shepherd of Virginia Beach; two brothers, James P. Johnson of Norfolk, Thomas G. Johnson of Virginia Beach; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 30, 1997, at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Calvin Gardner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 800 Olney Road, Norfolk, Va. 23507. H.D.
