NORFOLK - Cuthbert Leigh Johnson, 78, of 733 Chapel St., died Thursday in a 
hospital.
A native of Norfolk, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson and the husband 
of Mrs. Bertha Johnson. He was a retired 30-year employee of S. Ray Barrett and 
had worked 15 years for Morning Glory Funeral Home. He was a member of Holy Name 
Society of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, Cuthbert A. Johnson of Brooklyn and John V. Johnson of 
Norfolk; four daughters, Mrs. Venetia Grant and Mrs. Bertha M. Jones of Norfolk, 
Mrs. Gertrude V. Hall of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Frances Fleming of Baltimore; 22 
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to Morning Glory Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited 
tonight at 8 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A funeral service will be held Monday 
at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church by the Rev. Cornelius Sullivan. Burial will be in 
St. Mary’s Cemetery.
