Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, January 5, 1998 
Helene Johnson of the 1400 block of W. Carson Crescent, died Dec. 31, 1997, in
her residence.

Born in Norfolk County, Mrs. Johnson retired from finance and accounting
computer programming at Norfolk Naval Base after 32 years. She was a graduate of
Hampton Institute and a member of First Baptist Church, Norfolk. She was a
former accountant for Shepherd's Way Adult Home.

Survivors include a son, Phillip Johnson of Portsmouth; a brother, Roland
Griffin of Norfolk; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs.
Johnson also leaves a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents, Pearl Howard Griffin and George E. Griffin.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, Bute
Street, by Dr. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The
remains will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. the day of the service. Graves
Funeral Home is in charge.
