Susan Kay Johnson, 66, of Norfolk, VA, died on Wed., March 29, 2023.  Born in 
Bloomington, IN, on April 28, 1956, she grew up in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She 
was the daughter of the late Richard and Gertrude Johnson.  Susan was retired 
from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. Following her retirement, 
she received her master’s degree in social work and worked for Catholic 
Charities for many years.  She was an active member of the First Presbyterian 
Church, a member of their Bible Study group, and an active member of the Widow 
Support group. Susan married the love of her life, the late Jack Beasley Jr. 
while stationed in Naples, Italy. She is survived by her only child, Jonluke 
Beasley of Norfolk, VA., grandchildren Vivienne, Jack, Nora, and Kelsey, two 
brothers Allen and Tom Johnson and one sister Peggy (Johnson) Bartlett, all from 
Wisconsin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other friends, and family. Susan 
loved both spending time with her grandchildren and reading.  She was fond of 
all animals, especially cats and leaves behind her two cats, Sophie and Tom as 
well!
