Norfolk - James Johnson Sr., the husband of Mrs. Bertha Johnson, was given final 
rites Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church by the Rev. Dennis Haughton.  Interment 
followed in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in 
charge.

The Norfolk native, a son of the late Jesse and Mrs. Corrine Johnson, resided at 
833 Marshall avenue.  He was employed at Carolina Trailways for 16 years.

Also surviving are two sons, Vernon Johnson of Norfolk and James Johnson Jr. of  
Washington, DC;  one daughter, Miss Beatrice Johnson of Baltimore ;  two 
brothers, Eddie and Jesse Johnson, both of Newark, NJ;  and one sister, Miss 
Sarah Johnson of Newark.
