The Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 14, 1945


Mrs. Louise Pannell Johnston, widow of James H. Johnston, and daughter of the 
late Thomas and Mrs. Virginia Knox Walthal Pannill, died Friday at 7:55 a.m. 
at a local hospital. Mrs. Johnston was a native of Petersburg and had been a 
resident of this section for 40 years, residing in Virginia Beach. She is 
survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Ball, of Newport News; one brother Charles 
J. Pannill, of New York, and seven nieces and nephews. Services will be held 
at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Taylor 
Willis, D.D., rector of Christ and St. Luke’s Church, officiating. Interment 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
