Edward Walston Johnston, USMC, of Cradock, who died Sunday from a shotgun wound in the left chest, will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church by the Rev. Edward W. Johnson, pastor of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, Berkeley, W.Va., and a former pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, an uncle of Johnston’s. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors. Rosary services will be conducted at the Derry-Twiford Funeral Home today at 8 p.m. Private Johnston’s body was found on the Western Branch of the Elizabeth River late Sunday. Dr. C. O. Barclay, Norfolk County medical examiner, said no foul play was indicated. Johnston was a native of Newport News and had been a resident of Cradock for 17 years. He resided at 7 Reid Street. He was a graduate of St. Paul’s Catholic High School, in Portsmouth, and attended the College of William and Mary. He was the son of Lawrence Vincent Johnston, Sr. and Mrs. Gertrude Hartwell Johnston. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Johnston Kramer, of Riverdale, Md., and Mrs. Elizabeth Johnston Moore, of Waldorf, Md., and three brothers, Lawrence Vincent Johnston, Jr., of Rockledge, Fla., and Robert Michael Johnston and Richard Bruce Johnston, both of Cradock.
