Johnson of 1539 44th St. died Thursday in a hospital after a long illness. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late James L. and Mrs. Eliza Lewis and the wife of James L. Johnson. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point and its Missionary Circle and Ada Eastern Star Chapter 20. Besides her husband, surviving are two sons, Clarence E. Pelham of Detroit and Charles N. Pelham of Norfolk; three daughters, Mrs. Margrie A. Pelham of Norfolk, Mrs. Jean V. Ghee of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Goldie H. Nabors of Chicago; a brother, Alphonso Lewis of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Bradshaw of Sedley, Mrs. Eula Smith of Portsmouth and Mrs. Goldie Norwood of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, by the Rev. M.L. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be in church at 10 a.m. Monday until funeral time. Hale Funeral Home has charge.
