P. Jones, calmly passed away at 7 o'clock Thursday night, her mind unclouded and in full possession of all her faculties. During the last eighteen months her suffering was of a character which baffles description, but throughout the trying ordeal not a murmur escaped her lips, and the remarkable fortitude which sustained her was a most beautiful exemplification of the Christian faith which abided with her to the final close. Next to her pronounced Christian virtues there was none that reflected such lustre as that rare quality of her nature, contentment. Whether in prosperity or adversity, this virtue was conspicuous. Her funeral took place at the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the presence of a large and sympathizing audience and the services were conducted by Rev. George J. Hobday, assisted by Rev. B.F. Lipscomb. The following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: John W.H. Wrenn, E.C. Lindsay, L. Hyslop, John Borden, Isaac Diggs and Benjamin Tilley and her remains laid to rest in Magnolia Cemetery.
