Jones, who died last week at her home, 1503 Link street, were conducted Sunday at First Baptist Church, Bute street, where she had been a member for many years. The Rev. Dr. W. L. Hamilton, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, and Rev. Dr. J. B. Henderson, pastor of Bank Street Baptist Church, officiated. Mrs. Jones was recently retired from the city school system after teaching for over 30 years. A native of Princess Anne county, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mrs. Carmelia Riddick of Princess Anne. She became a member of First Baptist Church in 1916 when she first came to Norfolk and was an active member of the choir and other auxiliaries of the church. The deceased held membership in the Norfolk Temple No. 1A of the Daughter Elks, the Tents of Princess Anne, VA; the Iota Phi Lambda and the Phi Delta Kappa Sororities, and the Progressive Garden Club of east Brambleton. Her survivors are: her husband, James Preston Jones; one sister, Mrs. Grace Jordan of this city; three brothers, Charles Riddick of Newark, NJ, Augustus Riddick of Buffalo, NY, and Milton Riddick of Princess Anne; one uncle, Daniel Riddick of Princess Anne; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
