SOUTH NORFOLK - John Paul Jones Sr., 48, husband of Mrs. Nellie S. Rountree 
Jones, died Friday at 10:30 p.m. at his residence, 511 D St., after several 
years failing health.
A native of Delmar, Del., he had lived since childhood in Norfolk and South 
Norfolk.  He was employed as a shipping clerk by the Gulf Oil Co.
He was a son of Granville P. Jones and the late Mrs. Rebecca Parks Jones.  
He was a member of Chesapeake Avenue Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Alton N. Edwards, and one 
son, John Paul Jones Jr., both of Norfolk; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Billy Joe 
Stephenson and Mrs. Donald W. Cropper, both of South Norfolk; one sister, 
Mrs. George C. White of Norfolk; two brothers, William James Jones of 
Norfolk, and Granville Ray Jones of Levittown, Pa., and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Francis A. Gay 
Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley.
