Chesapeake - Mrs. Ernestine M. Jones of 2613 Cedar road, the wife of Steadman V. 
Jones, died recently in a Norfolk hospital.

A native of Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late James and Mrs. Helen 
Myrick.

She worked at Norfolk Naval Air Station 27 years.

She was chairman of the Deaconess Board and Chairman of the Nursery Committee, 
member of the Board of Christian Education  and Missionary Circle of Queen 
Street Baptist Church.

She also was a member of New Light Eastern Star Chapter 196, Unity Lodge 79, and 
secretary of National  Ideal Beneficiary Society.

Besides her husband, surviving are her stepmother, Mrs. Helen Myrick of Norfolk;  
a son, Hampton Jones of Chesapeake;  a brother Hampton Myrick, and a sister, 
Mrs. Helen Fitzgerald, both of Norfolk;   and three grandchildren.

A funeral service was held in Queen Street Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Jasper 
Freeman.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Graves Funeral Home in charge.
