The Virginian Pilot Tuesday July 24, 2001
Edna Merkel Jones, 80, of the 900 block of Norfleet Road, died July 22, 2001, in 
Chesapeake. 
She was born in Norfolk County, Va., and was a member of South Norfolk 
Congregational Christian Church. 
Survivors include her husband, Chester M. Jones; a daughter, Sabrina Lynn Jones 
of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Robert Swanner Jr. of Chesapeake and 
Kellie Swanner of North Carolina; and several nephews. 
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Graham Funeral Home, South 
Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Amos Eby. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. 
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home 
and at the residence at all other times.
