He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Norfolk hospital. For years he was a salesman with Old Dominion tobacco Co., then went to Elizabeth City, N.C. as general manager for Jones & Temple Co. He returned to Norfolk in October as assistant buyer for Old Dominion. A son of Nelson and Charity Ballard Jones, he was a native of Portsmouth, Ohio, and had resided here most of his life, lately at 3730 Riverside Drive, Ingleside. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Corinthian Lodge 266, A.F. & A.M. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elsie Fairer Jones; a daughter, Miss Carolyn Ann Jones; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Price, and two brothers, Reginald D. Jones and Paul W. Jones, all of Norfolk. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Derry-Twiford Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. William L. Lumpkin, of Freemason Baptist Church and the Rev. Maurice Grissom of First Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, N.C.
