The Virginian-Pilot, Friday, March 5, 1982

NORFOLK – Mayo Jones of 1501 Hibie St. died Tuesday in a hospital.

He was a native of Southampton County and was the husband of the late Olivia Jones.
He had retired from Womble Box Co. after 20 years and was a member of Greater Mount
Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

Survivors include a son, Wallace Sumler of Jamaica, N.Y.; a step0daughter, Dorothy
Haskins of Norfolk; a sister, Corine Sykes of New York City; three brothers, Stanley
Jones of Ivor, James Jones of Suffolk and Thomas Jones Jr. of Norfolk; four
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church by
the Rev. Bonnie Joyner. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Metropolitan Funeral
Home in charge.

The family is at the residence.
