H. Jones died last night at ll o'clock at the residence of her son-in- law, L. R. Britt, No. 1 Graydon Avenue. Mrs. Jones had been ill for several months and her death was not unexpected. She was well-known through-out Virginia in church work. She was 70 years old and was born in North Carolina Mrs. Jones was twice married. Her first husband was the late John Peters, president of the Second National Bank, now the Bank of Commerce. In her widowhood, she married the Rev. R. H. Jones, who died some years ago. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Dr. W. J. Lumsden, of Elizabeth City, N.C., and C. Charles H. Lumsden, of Lynchburg; Mrs. William B. Rudds, of Hampton Roads, Va., and Mrs. Jennie B. Anthony, of Campbell county, Virginia; ; three children: Rev. J. Sidney Peters, of Richmond; J. Marvin Peters, of Petersburg, and Mrs. L. R. Britt, of Norfolk. Mrs. Jones, from the standpoint of membership, was the oldest member of Epworth M. E. Church of this city. She became a member of this church fifty-three years ago. For over fifty years, she was connected with the Management of the Norfolk Female Orphan Asylum, and for many years was president of the board of managers. She was prominently identified as one of the prime movers for the building of the Norfolk Protestant hospital. For ten years she was State president of the W.C.T.U., and president of the board of managers of the Florence Crittenden Home, since its foundation. She was also president of the Young Woman's Christian Home and took a prominent part in the missionary movement of the Methodist Church. The funeral will be conducted from Epworth M. E. E. Church Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. The services will be conducted by the Rev. T. A. Smoot, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. James Cannon, D.D.
