CHESAPEAKE — Vernon Lee Jones Sr., 85, of the 2700 block of Cedar Road, died 
Feb. 11, 1987, in a hospital.
Mr. Jones, a Hampton native, owned the Register Police System Inc. for more than 
40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lee Smith Jones; two daughters, Charlotte J. 
McCall of Chesapeake and Jean J. Currin of Norfolk; a son, Vernon L. Jones Jr. 
of Virginia Beach; a sister, Ethel J. Harris of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; and 
six great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery 
by the Rev. Robert Fetrow. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home, Norfolk, from 
7 to 8 p.m. Friday.
