She was a native of Norfolk, Va., and the daughter of Samuel Wilson Flowers and the late Addie Lea Lightfoot Flowers. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk and Livingston College in Salisbury, N.C. She received her master's degree from Southern Connecticut State College. She also attended Trinity College and the University of Bridgeport. She was retired after 25 years from Danbury Connecticut High School as a French teacher and guidance counselor. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Woodbury, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and 100 Coalition of Black Women. As a volunteer she worked for two years at the Waterbury, Ct., YMCA. Besides her father she is survived by a brother, Samuel Wilson Flowers, Jr.; a special friend, Theodore P. Harris; cousins, Mildred Bentley, Claudette Chambers, Ames Lightfoot, Freddie Walker; and other cousins and relatives. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk, by Father Jessie London and the Rev. Richard A. Council. The family will assemble at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. The family will be at 2535 Ludlow St., Norfolk.
