Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, December 19, 2000 
Dorothy W. Jones, 81, of the 800 block of Chalk Court, died Dec. 16, 2000, in
Norfolk.

A native of Norfolk, Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High
School, Class of 1936. In 1990, after 29 years of service, she retired as a
secretary of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was a member, president of Usher
Board No. 2, and a member of the deaconess board. She was also president of
Church Women United, and convener of Virginia Baptist State Usher Fellowship.

The widow of Luther C. Jones Sr., she is survived by two daughters, Gwendolyn J.
Coleman and Victoria J. Overton; three sons, Luther C. Jones Jr., Alfred C.
Jones and Samuel W. Jones Sr.; four sisters, Vernice Bagby, Leola Lawton,
Shirley Stancil and Inez Tucker; three brothers, C. Eugene Wilson, Robert B.
Wilson and Maurice Wilson; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at noon Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Norfolk, by
the Rev. John Foster, with burial in Calvary Cemetery . A wake service will be
held Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Graves Funeral Home. The body will lie in
repose at the church at 10 a.m.
