CHESAPEAKE - Verna Lee Jones, 87, of the 700 block of Edinburg Ave., died Nov.
19,  2000, in Chesapeake General  Hospital.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., Verna L. Jones was the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel
and Leona L McKethan. She was the widow of Homer M. Jones and was prede- ceased
by a daughter, Ursula J. Alexander.

Mrs. Jones is survived by a de- voted son-in-law, John G. Alexan- der Sr.; three
grandchildren, L John G. Alexander Jr. of Norfolk, Lori A. Alexander of Raleigh,
N.C., and Letitia A. Davis and her husband Dorteo R. Davis of Ches- apeake; and
two great-grandchil- dren, Victoria K. Alexander and Dorteo R. Davis II.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Trin- ity AME Church,
Chesapeake, by the Rev. Queen Ester Snell. Buri- al will be at Calvary Cemetery
. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home,
Chesapeake.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund of First
Trinity AME Church.
