J. H. Green, pastor of Bethlehem Church of Christ’s Disciples. Mrs. Jones, a native of Winton, NC, had been a resident of Norfolk since 1910. In May of 1914 she was married to Sanders Jones of this city. The deceased was described as one who “bore her afflictions with patience, was kind and loving to her family, and ready to say something about the goodness of the Lord.” The Rev. J. A. Young, pastor of St. John’s A. M. E. Church, and the Rev. O. T. Diggs of the St. Thomas A. M. E. Zion Church, also participated in the final rites. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Copeland of Enfield, NC; two children by a former marriage, Charlie Copeland, 28, of New York City, and Miss Alberta Copeland, 26; a brother, M. C. Copeland, of New York City; and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Jane Bryant and Mrs. Rosa Byrd of Norfolk, and Mrs. Pocahontas Smallwood, of Woodbury, NJ, and five grandchildren. Interment took place in Calvary Cemetery.
