Norfolk - Mrs. Blanche Davis Jones of 863 A Ave., died Feb. 20 in Masonic
Temple, Portsmouth.  

A native of Norfolk, she was the wife of Robert Jones, and a retired teacher
with the Norfolk Public Schools.  She was a member of the Hattie Young Boosters
Club, Foreign Missionary Society, secretary of the Women’s Society, and chairman
of the general claims board of Greater Metropolitan AMEZ Church.  She was also
president of Daughters of Norfolk;  a graduate of Hampton Institute with a
Masters Degree;  a member of the Virginia Teachers Association, Norfolk Teachers
Association;  Retired Teachers Association; and past worthy matron of Margaret
Frances Chapter No. 101, Order of Eastern Star;  and held offices in several
other fraternal organizations.

A funeral service was held Feb. 24 at noon in Greater Metropolitan AMEZ Church
by the Rev. Jackson A. Browne.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.  Graves Funeral
Home had charge.
