Shirley V. Jones , our beloved mother, sister and aunt, departed this earth
Sunday, May 12, 2002, at DePaul Hospital.

She was born Feb. 11, 1941, in Princess Anne County, better known as Virginia
Beach. Her family later moved to Norfolk. She was the only daughter of the late
Viola Barden and the late Clarence Ruffin. She was a graduate of Booker T.
Washington High School, Class of 1959, and a member of St. John AME Church for
more than 30 years where she served on Usher Board No. 1. She was also a member
of the Coronada/Inglenook Civic League for several years.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Mark; two brothers, Joseph Barden and
Ricky Barden; an aunt, Lola Dickerson; two uncles, Walter Dickerson and James
Sparrow; four nieces, three nephews, and a host of cousins.

A funeral will be held at noon Thursday at Community Funeral Home, Norfolk, by
Elder Lemuel Williams, pastor of Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ.
Viewing will be today from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
