He was a native of Brunswick County, and had made his home in Norfolk for 41 years. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at noon at the residence by the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D. pastor of the Freemason Street Baptist Church, of which Mr. Jones was a member. Mr. Jones had been connected with Burro-Martin for many years. After serving an apprenticeship in Petersburg from 1887 to 1892 he came to Norfolk to accept a position with John W. Burrow. In 1896, after the death of Mr. Burrow, a co- partnership was formed, in which Mr. Jones became associated with Devereaux Burrow and W.R. Martin in the conduct of business. Upon the death of Mr. Martin, Mr. Jones was elected president of the company. He resigned this office after three years and accepted the office of vice president, which he had held since. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Mrs. Mary Emily Jones; one daughter, Hume Jones, of Petersburg; two sisters, Mrs. G.T. Baskerville of Champ, and Mrs. Walter Baskerville, of Richmond, and several nieces and nephews.
