Norfolk - Charlie Jones, 1236 43rd St., died Monday in the home of his daughter
after a short illness.

He was a son of Charles and Mrs. Mary Jones and the widower of Mrs. Willie Ann
Jones. Born in Richmond, he lived in Norfolk 38 years and retired from Norfolk &
Western Railway after 56 years.

He was a member of ILA 978 and of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, where he
was a deacon 47 years.

Surviving are two sons, Leonard H. Jones and Nathaniel Jones, and three
daughters, Mrs. Mattie Palin, Mrs. Lillian Metz, and Mrs. Della Davis, all of
Norfolk; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.

The body was taken to Hale Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in First
Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. H. Hudson
Bobbitt, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will assemble at
1551 W. 42nd St., and the body will be in the church at 11 a.m.
