The Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 7, 1949
Mrs. Ruth Jones, 53, of 1426 Bainbridge Boulevard, died in a local hospital 
late Saturday. She is the daughter of the late George W. and Susan James 
Whitfield. In addition to her husband, William Jones, she is survived by three 
brothers, P. W. Whitfield, of Wilson, N.C., F. L. Whitfield, also of Wilson, 
and J. S. Whitfield, of Roper N. C.; three sisters, Mrs. G. N. Warren, of 
Stokes, N. C., Mrs. J. B. Mallery of Everett, N. C., and Mrs. C. E. Berry, of 
South Norfolk, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
She had been a resident of the Norfolk area for 32 years and is a native of 
Pitt County, N. C. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Stokes, 
N. C.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Williams Funeral Home, 
1027 Chesapeake Avenue, South Norfolk. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
