Virginian-Pilot  January 10, 1901
The funeral of Mrs. Eliza J. Jones, wife of Mr. E. T. R. Jones, took place 
yesterday morning at 10 o’clock from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, requiem mass 
being celebrated by the Rev. Father Crow, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s, while 
in the sanctuary were the Rev. Father James F. Mackin, of St Paul’s Church, 
Washington, D.C., the Rev. John Gloyd, of St. Patrick’s Church, Washington, 
D.C., the Rev. Father Drake, of Sacred Heart Church, Norfolk, and the Rev. 
Father Doherty, of St. Mary’s, Norfolk. At the conclusion of the mass, the Rev. 
Father Mackin, a former pastor of the deceased, made very feeling and eulogistic 
remarks upon her life and character. The interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 
the following gentlemen being the pallbearers: Messrs. Walter A. Edwards, 
Michael Cashin, Sr., William T. Owens, H. J. Tripple, Martin Cashin, John 
Walters and C. F. Rudolph.
