Mrs. Bessie L. Jones, 40, of 302 Smith Street, died at her home on Wednesday, May 
20, and her funeral was held from Hale’s Chapel, on Monday with the Rev. Mr. 
Handy, of Union Mission, officiating. She was born in Suffolk, VA, and is survived 
by her husband, Alexander Jones, and one adopted daughter, Catherine Jones, one 
sister and one brother. She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
