She was born to the late John and Marion Bowers on Sept. 11, 1904, in St. Albans, Vt. and married the late James Jones formerly of Norfolk. She was the oldest of 11 children. She completed elementary and secondary school in Vermont and graduated from St. Pauls College, Lawrenceville, Va. She taught in the Isle of Wight public schools. She took pride in her teaching, strived for excellence and served as a role model for family and friends. A lifelong dedicated Episcopalian, her affiliations included membership in the Altar Guild, The Daughters of the King, Martin Bible Class, Saint Helenas Guild and The Brambleton Senior Center. She leaves to mourn her passing a beloved sister, Eleanor Harrison of Chesapeake; a brother, Charles Alvin Bowers of Richmond, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Father Harold J. Cobb Jr. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home handling arrangements.
