Jones Dies; Shipyard Planner Edward Tilley Jones, 59, husband of Mrs. Margaret Gennette Smith Jones, died at a Norfolk hospital Monday night at 11:25 o'clock following an illness of two weeks. He was a native of Berkley and had been a resident of Norfolk and Berkley all of his life, most recently residing at 1208 Warrington Avenue. He was a planner at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where he had been employed for the past 28 years. He was a son of John Wesley Jones, of Berkley, and the late Mrs. Clara Tilley Jones, and was a grandson of the late Edward Munro and Mrs. Eliza Hare Tilley. Mr. Jones was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of the Norfolk Academy and an alumnus of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a son, Edward Tilley Jones, Jr.; one grandson; two sisters, Mrs. G.C. White, Norfolk, and Mrs. Richard B. Pratt, Williamsburg, and two brothers, Wesley T. Jones, Chicago, and Raymond T. Jones, Norfolk. The body will be taken from the Cox Funeral Home to the First Presbyterian Church for funeral services tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jason L. MacMillan, D.D., pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
