A native of Norfolk, Jordan retired in 1935 when failing eyesight forced him to abandon a painting business which was established by his father, the late Hubert F. Jordan, in 1874. The latter's paint shop originally was located on City Hall Avenue, across the street from the property now occupied by the Monticello Hotel. He was a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 266, A.F. and A.M., the Norfolk United Royal Arch Chapter No. 1; Grice Commandery, Knights Templar, Khedive Temple, Shriners, and Auld Consistory, Scottish Rite Masons. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. J.V. George, of San Diego; two sons, Hubert C. and J. Wesley Jordan; a sister, Mrs. Claude M. Lindsay; one brother, B.R. Jordan, and a granddaughter, Miss Edythe Elizabeth Jordan, all of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon Brown Funeral Home tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
