Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch February 18, 1941
Mrs. Ella Malbone Joyner, aged 66, widow of Joseph L. Joyner and daughter of the 
late William H. and Mrs. Amanda A. Malbone, a native and lifelong resident of 
Norfolk, died at 3:10 o'clock yesterday morning at a local hospital. Mrs. Joyner 
resided at 357 Ward avenue. Surviving her are a sister, Mrs. L. Frank Bass, of 
Norfolk, and two nieces, Mrs. Henry E. Gerrish of Hartford, Conn., and Mrs. J. F. 
Stein, of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. 
T. J. Hawkins, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which Mrs. Joyner was a 
member, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
