VIRGINIA BEACH - Harry Duff Joynes, 71, of Martine Court, passed away Oct. 9, 
2005, ending his courageous battle with cancer. Duff was born in Norfolk and had 
retired from the Virginia Beach School System after a career of shaping hundreds 
of our children's minds for their future. He was a proud graduate with a 
master's degree in education from The College of William and Mary. Duff's love 
of NASCAR, the Redskins and music was only surpassed by his love for his family. 
While he will be missed by all, his wit and character will be cherished forever. 
He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Dardanella "Dee" Joynes; a beloved 
stepdaughter, Robin Watson; a stepson, Harry Bybee and his wife Gerri, all of 
Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Ashley Watson, Michelle Bybee, and Keith Bybee; 
and a niece, Brenda Lee of Midlothian, Va. A graveside funeral will be conducted 
at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial 
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Cox Funeral Home is 
handling arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family through
