                             FUNERAL SERVICES.
The funeral services over Police Officer Washington L. Joynes took place at 12 
M. yesterday from the Hospital St. Vincent de Paul, attended by a large number 
of friends and relatives, together with the entire police force of the city in 
command of Assistant Chief Emmett J. Mann.
Rev. J. H. Riddick, pastor of Cumberland Street M. E Church, conducted the 
ceremonies, assisted by Officer Luther Dear, at the conclusion of which the 
mournful procession, amid the doleful tolling of the alarm-bell, wended its way 
to Elmwood Cemetery, where the burial services were concluded and the remains 
deposited in a vault. The following is a list of the pallbearers — Officers, 
Luther Dear, J. E. Hambury, John Kelley, A. M. Osborne and G. W. Laylor.
