Joynes, 80, retired postal worker, died at the residence, 3228 Verdun Ave., Wednesday at 1 p.m. after a short illness. He was a native of Norfolk, the son of Ned and Mrs. Mary Salsbury Joynes, and husband of the late Mrs. Kate Allen Joynes. Before his retirement in December 1942, he had been a special clerk at the Norfolk Post Office for 33 years. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and of its Holy Name Society. He also was a member of Tidewater Chapter No. 66, National Assn. of Retired Civilian Employees. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Loretta Weaver, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Bernice Richardson, of Charleston, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Anna Catherine Andrews, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and two great-grandsons, Ray and Rhyne Andrews, also of St. Petersburg. The body was removed to the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. NORFOLK - The body of Emmett S. Joynes, who died Wednesday, will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Christ the King Catholic Church for funeral services tomorrow at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted at the funeral apartments tonight at 7:30.
