Robert D. Kanaday, 87, of the 3100 block of E. Indian River Road, a retired 
electrician, died April 10, 1993, in his residence. 
Mr. Kanaday was born in Gainesville, Ga. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard 
and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for more than 55 years. 
Survivors include his wife, Artie Bell Kanaday; two daughters, Hester K. 
Cleghorn of Chesapeake and Dorothy K. Ackaway of Virginia Beach; a sister, Eula 
K. Nix of Cleveland, Ga.; a brother, Homer N. Kanaday of Gainesville, Ga.; nine 
grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She 
was pre-deceased by a daughter, Sudie K. Long. 
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in First Church of the Nazarene, 
4413 Wishart Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Gene F. Tanner. Burial will be 
in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and other times at the residence.
