NORFOLK - Michael Kanakis, 87, of Lembla Street, owner and operator of Brooke 
Avenue Barber Shop for 40 years, died January 24, 1990, in his home.

Mr. Kanakis, a native of Algina, Greece, was a member of the Greek Orthodox 
Church of the Annunciation.

Survivors include his wife, Helen K. Kanakis; a son, Arthur M. Kanakis of 
Washington, D.C.; and a sister and a brother, both of Greece.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Greek Orthodox Church of 
the Annunciation by the Rev. Charles Goumenis. Burial will be in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery. A Trisagion service will be at 7 p.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, Norfolk.
