Kane, 81, Retired From Printing Business Edwin Blumenthal Kane, 81, of 404 26th St., retired from the Patricia G. Devlin Printing Co. of Virginia Beach, died Tuesday in his home. Kane, a native of New York City, lived in Tidewater since 1940. Prior to coming here, he was a member of the New York Stock Exchange from 1921 to 1937, during which time he, his brother Morton, and Mrs. Patricia G. Devlin conducted the brokerage firm of Blumenthal Brothers in New York. He and Morton were instrumental in bringing the late Edgar Cayce and his family to Virginia Beach in 1928 and helped found the Edgar Cayce Hospital. After a few years of operation, the Blumenthal Brothers retired from the association and the hospital was never reopened. He also was associated with the establishment of Atlantic University at Virginia Beach. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Wellhouse Kane of Virginia Beach. He was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a charter member of Father Habets Council, Knights of Columbus. A Christian wake service will be held tonight at 7:30 in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. *************************************************************************** KANE, EDWIN BLUMENTHAL - In his home, 404 26th Street, Virginia Beach, Tuesday, EDWIN BLUMENTHAL KANE, husband of Mrs. Mary Wellhouse Kane and son of the late August and Mrs. Freda Baitman Blumenthal, in the 81st year of his age.
