KARN, in the fiftieth year of his age. The funeral will take place from the Cumberland Street M.E. Church on THURSDAY AFTERNOON at half past 2 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances invited to attend. ************* Death of an Esteemed Citizen - We are deeply pained to announce this morning the death of F.A. Karn, Esq., one of our most esteemed citizens. The sad event took place at his residence on Cumberland Street at ten o'clock Monday evening after a protracted illness of consumption. Mr. Karn has been a resident of Norfolk for the past thirty years having moved to this city from Philadelphia in 1846. He commenced the clothing business in 1849 and prosecuted the same assiduously until a year or two since, when failing health necessitated his abstaining from active attention to the same, when he formed a co-partnership with Mr. George W. Gilbert, for years in his employ. Mr. Karn was a Mason of high standing in the Blue Lodge, Chapter and Commandery, having filled important stations in each branch of this Order. He was a man of strict integrity, high moral character, who never failed to acknowledge an act of kindness, even from the humblest, and was always ready to do a service to his fellow man. Possessing a Christian heart his hand and purse were ever ready to alleviate suffering humanity. Always desiring to be a Christian, shortly before his death he connected himself in membership with the Cumberland Street M.E. Church, from which church his funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 1/2 o'clock.
