Kaufmann, 69, of 544 Shirley Avenue, restaurant staff employee of the Monticello Hotel, died yesterday at 6:10 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a heart attack. He was admitted to the hospital Monday. A native of Haller, Luxembourg, he had returned recently from a trip to Europe. He had made his home in Norfolk the last 46 years. His parents were Mathias and Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner Kaufmann. He was the husband of Mrs. Julia Muller Kaufmann. He was a member of Norfolk Council 367, Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree; of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; a member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, and of its Nocturnal Adoration Society. Besides his wife, surviving are two daughters, Miss Margaret E. Kaufmann and Mrs. Charles W. Throckmorton, all of Norfolk; three sons, Capt. Herman J. Kaufmann, USA, of Fort Benning, Ga.; Julian F. Kaufmann, of Norfolk, and Maj. Paul R. Kaufmann, USA, of Williamsburg; one sister, Mrs. Otto Mahlow, of Astoria, Long Island, N.Y.; and one brother, Mathias Kaufmann, of Chicago. The body was removed to the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. It will be taken from the residence to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for funeral services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted today at 7:30 p.m. at the residence.
