Virginian-Pilot  April 21, 1909
Mrs. Mary Kavanaugh, relict of the late Bryan Kavanaugh, died at her home, 68 
Bermuda street, at 4:30 o’clock, Monday afternoon, after a lingering illness, in 
the 79th year of her age. The deceased was a native of Ireland, but had been a 
resident of Norfolk for sixty years, where she was well known and highly esteemed. 
She is survived by four daughters and one son. The funeral will be held from St. 
Mary’s Catholic church, of which she was for many years a consistent member, at 
9:30 o’clock Thursday morning.
